Fear of Moving Forward

I must move forward.
Shed the burden.
But, fears
vice grip my heart,
softening my spine.
Moving on…
means leaving…
Everything I know.
If I remain here,
I hold onto
Normalcy,
Nostalgia,
Minor Comforts.
The new
is the unknown.
Facing it,
cripples me.
Because, I can't see
what disasters are coming.
With my freshly bruised spine
how can I weather them?
Listen closely.
It is scary
to move away
from the familiar
and move into
the unknown future.
But, the future is coming.
Life is constant change.
Stationary is death.
Your bruises,
they will heal.
Crawl forward,
if you must.
But, move,
I beg you,
move.
Mourn as you go.
Grieve your losses.
Collapse on the floor.
Drench your face in tears.
This is part of the process.
Your insides,
torn asunder,
will mend
as you gain
forward momentum.
